Those of you close to us may know that we've been searching for a new location since December 2017 - we outgrew our current office long ago and have finally found a place that can meet the needs of our students, parents, and staff. Much like a hermit crab, our new Clubhouse will allow Happy Code to grow and thrive.
As an avid Scratcher, Brenden has taken his projects to the next level, like his Fish Chomping game, mind-reading search engine, and more! In addition to Intermediate Programming in Scratch, he's also joined the Java Programming with Minecraft class for the Spring session! Currently he's one of two students enrolled in multiple classes on the same day!!
Our Scratch Guru Erickson has created a new video series to teach people awesome tips and neat things to do in Scratch! You can watch and learn, or better yet try out the code in Scratch alongside the video!
In late February, our team had the opportunity to put their heads together and solve puzzles to make it out alive from our trap't adventure! Before the fun even began, we got to tinker with a bunch of wooden and plastic brain teasers in the lobby, to get the logical-juices flowing.
Say hello to our newest instructors
With so many upcoming new schools and students to teach, we're excited to announce our latest additions to the HappyStaff team:
With yesterday's monster blizzard and another Nor'easter coming Monday, we thought it would be the perfect time to brainstorm a few STEAM activities to do when snowed in.
Invited to Visit 🐟🐠🐡
Our journey began when one of my students at the Horizons program was discussing with his father the Unity class he's taking. That simple conversation sparked what may be an exciting and fruitful program. As I came to learn, roughly 1 year ago the aquarium setup a massive 32-screen digital fish wall, running an app that enabled visitors to paint their very own aquatic life and upon giving it a name, watch it join the hundreds of marinelife up on the big screen! The aquarium's IT Manager Serigo had facilitated this project and after listening to his son's enjoyment of our Unity class, emailed me to introduce himself and the digital wall exhibit. Sergio invited me to come see it for myself, meet him, and tour the facility!
Dylan is our Student of the Month for being a creative and committed coder in Unity Unwrapped. Always interested in taking his projects and skills further, below are screenshots 📷 of one of his class projects!

Day 30 - Overcoming Misprints
In the first month I experienced a number of issues with the Mod-t, but with some determination, patience, and New Matter's excellent customer support I was able to overcome each and every one!
